I think my absence speaks for itself. It is hard trying to find motivation to write about the games that I've been to and the things that I felt when I really don't want to relive the feelings again. There have been a few losses this year, and I have been happy to write about them, but in the last few weeks the last thing I have wanted to do was update this blog. I have thought about it, I have pictures to put up, but I always found something else to busy myself with. Writing a blog should never become something that you feel you have to do, so I decided not to push myself and just let the interest creep back into my life and motivate me. So here I am.
Speaking of motivation, if there was one thing that lead to my motivation it was the fact that this week, for the first time in almost the entire season, we will have our entire team back. Assuming that Jason King is right to play, we will see our side at full strength.
Brett Stewart will be welcomed back with open arms, by both the supporters and the team members. He is a truly exceptional player, who just sees football the way it needs to be seen. He is an essential part of our team, and his absence does not go unnoticed. Dean Whare is a great young player who has done a good job filling in wherever needed this season, I have no doubt he will be a great asset to Penrith next year, but he is no Brett Stewart. In fact, he is a centre and we have two fantastic centres in our team and if he wants to further his sporting career he does need to move on. We will be sad to see such a capable player leave and that goes for all those who leave us at the end of the year.
Anthony Watmough was looking a bit uncertain for this weeks game after being placed on a report for a 'chicken wing' tackle. I can see where they are coming from, but I don't believe it was intentional. He was facing a two week suspension for a grade 2 charge and decided to take the early plea but for a grade 1 charge. He was successful and able to play for us this weekend.
Jason King was taken to hospital during last weeks game with some sort of chest injury - to be honest, I haven't done my homework on this one. Going to hospital is not generally a good sign, I think it was more precautionary than anything. He has been named for this weeks clash up in Townsville but an extended bench was also named obviously to cover for either Watmough's suspension or the possibility that Jason King is not fit for the game.
So Townsville, tomorrow. We face the North Queensland Cowboys which will not be an easy task. The result of this match could in fact determine whether we are a top four team, or just hanging in there in the top eight. We could possibly reach that top four this week, providing we win and Brisbane lose - if I have done my calculations properly.
Good luck to the boys, follow me on twitter @MaroonWhiteBlog and
Happy Footballing..
